What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-based modality in which we gently explore and talk through physical sensations and emotions, without any touch. It provides deep presence to emotions, pain and trauma stored in the body’s cellular memory, without intellectualising or labelling. My sessions are gentle, safe and taken at your pace, simply naming what comes up. I help you to unravel old stories and limiting patterns, coming out of the mind’s narratives and trusting the truth in your body’s wisdom.

Somatic healing emerges from the most authentic part of you. There’s such power in being compassionately witnessed; being seen and acknowledged just as you are, without trying to change yourself, be better or get anything right. I provide deeply conscious support, from years of trauma-informed training. I guide you to remember who you really are, trust your own inner voice and live in alignment.

What is conscious connected breathwork?

Concious connected breathwork can support all aspects of your wellbeing: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. I can help you safely meet your whole self, by gently being with suppressed emotions in a safe space. Breathwork is a powerful tool for processing and releasing stored tension in the body. In a 1:1 setting, you may feel more comfortable allowing emotions to arise, meeting physical pain and moving through tension. This doesn’t mean you have to have a huge cathartic experience; I’ll always meet you exactly where you’re at, and there’s no pressure to ‘perform’ emotions.

You also have the option of somatic touch, for which I’ll always ask for consent at the start - you’re always in full choice. In breathwork, there is less conversation than somatic therapy; I hold space for you to move through your felt experience, to a music playlist. We will talk through your intention at the start and discuss anything you’d like to share at the end, as I help you to integrate the experience.

Format and location options

Somatic therapy sessions can take place:

  • online (over Zoom)

  • at your home (for an extra fee, if within travelling distance of South Manchester)

  • or my own space in Manchester (Didsbury).

    Unlike breathwork, somatic therapy sessions don’t involve any touch and are less dynamic, in that they are carried out in your seat, in conversation with me. For this reason, they are just as effective when carried out online, if this fits your preference.
